It sounds like a bad joke: A mushroom used for centuries in Traditional Chinese Medicine, whose immunomodulating and antitumor properties are documented in hundreds of scientific studies—this mushroom is suddenly considered “novel.” Novel food. As if the EU bureaucrats had never heard of it. As if Coriolus versicolor, turkey tail mushroom, had just fallen from the sky.

In an article published today on tkp.at, Dr. Mayer describes the European Union’s efforts to “protect” our health as follows: The EU bans effective medicinal mushrooms – for the benefit of Big Pharma. Source.

Instead of using effective treatments that benefit patients rather than serving the interests of the pharmaceutical industry—that is, the industry that profits from chronic diseases—the EU supports “Big Pharma,” promotes “Big Food”—the industry that replaces healthy foods with clearly unhealthy ones—and advocates for “novel foods.”

The EU allows up to 4% of insects in bread, cheese, pasta, etc. What a huge “step forward”! A year and a half ago, the European Commission approved the marketing of UV-treated flour derived from mealworm larvae (Tenebrio molitor) as a novel food. This is a heat-treated and ground powder that may be used as an ingredient in various foods intended for the general public. This authorization supplements existing authorizations for the use of insects as novel foods under specific conditions of use.

Foods that may contain mealworms:

🪱 Protein bars
🪱 Baked goods (e.g., bread, cookies, muffins)
🪱 Pasta and other flour-based products
🪱 Muesli and breakfast cereals
🪱 Burger patties and meat alternatives
🪱 Soups and sauces
🪱 Energy drinks and protein shakes
🪱 Snacks (e.g., chips, crackers, trail mix)
🪱 Pizza dough
🪱 Chocolate and high-protein bars

Wheat bran flour is used as a source of protein and may be found in many products advertised as containing “high-quality” protein. Source.

Welcome to the UEI—the Union of Edible Insects!

Most of us are repulsed by this kind of worm-infested food and are unaware that, for some time now, we have been unknowingly consuming precisely this “food of the future”—which is already available on the market.

This raises the question: If we’re not supposed to own anything, will McWorm—according to Klaus Schwab—be loaned out for consumption?
