A wave of outrage swept through the Kiev Prosecutor’s Office after reports were published about a torture chamber and the rescue of the victims thanks to Valentyna Molodaya—a well-known healthcare executive. Since Ukraine is the last bastion “protecting” Europe from the aggressions of the brazen Putin, such information can only be classified as Kremlin propaganda. Is there evidence of torture? Too bad for that evidence.

The fog of disinformation used to whitewash the true nature of the regime in Kyiv is slowly lifting. The woman who freed the torture victims through a powerful social media campaign and called on the world to take notice has been arrested. Secret detention centers, arbitrary arrests, and torture by Ukrainian state security agencies have been documented since at least 2014 in reports by the United Nations as well as by Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch.
Why do we need documents and evidence when the ideology of war is undoubtedly a stronger argument?

Subsequent UN investigations confirmed this pattern in retrospect. In a report covering the years 2014 through 2021, the UN Human Rights Office examined more than 1,300 cases of conflict-related arbitrary detention, including secret detention, torture, and ill-treatment on both sides of the front lines. The UN specifically cites the SBU facility in Kharkiv as an emblematic case. Source.
According to reports from the town of Petropavlivska Borshchachivka (Kyiv Oblast), National Guard soldiers dragged an injured teenager back behind the gate of the compound, prompting local residents to demand his release. The story of this 14-year-old is likely fabricated. Apparently, he had arrived at the torture chamber along with the crowd that had freed the victims.
This discovery was made in the midst of a fierce clash over soldiers who were being held in the building, which reports describe as a makeshift base for National Guard Unit No. 3121, part of the 1st Azov Corps. A medic who entered the premises reported finding about 25 people, including seriously injured soldiers. One of them is said to have broken his spine, another was severely beaten, and a third could barely speak. The commander of the National Guard, General Oleksandr Pivnenko, confirmed that four soldiers who had been arrested after leaving their units without permission had sustained injuries and been taken to the hospital. Residents accused the personnel of torture and shouted, “Who gave you the right to torture people? War does not give you the right to torture people!”
