What exactly are these terrible bots? And Russian ones, no less? If you’re familiar with this topic, feel free to skip the next paragraph. It’s aimed at those for whom the word “bots” brings to mind boat.
They’re simply computers that are usually housed in a building colloquially referred to as a data center. If you’ve ever used a search engine like Google, you’ve unknowingly benefited from the work of these bots. More specifically, they crawl over a billion websites, analyze the text in particular, and store keywords in a database. This is necessary so that the search engine can, for example, find an article published on this blog a few days ago when you search for “Empire of Barbarism” (in quotation marks). There is a second meaning of the term “bot”: a fictional account on a social media platform created by feigned intelligence—AI for short. This second meaning is the subject of this article.
An alternate media website is getting a lot of views? Oh no, the server it’s stored on has been compromised by AI and needs to be temporarily isolated! “Russian bots” is perfect for this, mixing “AI bad” with “Russia bad” with “disinformation bad” in a neat little agenda cocktail. Like Mary Poppins’ medicine, everyone gets the flavour they want. An excerpt from Tuesday’s article on off-guardian.org: “Russian bots”, burning data centres & partitioning the internet.

Yet another piece of disinformation from the one and only true Western truth.
Lawfaremedia.org has also reported on this. The pattern is always the same. Whether it’s about “life-saving vaccines,” global warming, the Apollo mission, the Kennedy assassination, the evil Putin, or the Al-Qaeda attack on the WTC—unfounded claims are constantly made, based on media lies that are repeated ad nauseam.

Arguments in a discussion? That’s a relic of the past! These days, the most important argument is: “It’s true because I say so!” Anyone who thinks otherwise is stupid. Orwell’s vision is merely the prelude to a world of planned totalitarian technocratic control.
Technocracy is the belief that society should be run by technical experts, like engineers, scientists, economists, instead of elected officials. The word was coined in 1919 by an engineer named William Henry Smyth. It was then popularized in the 1930s by a movement called Technocracy Inc., which proposed replacing politicians with engineers and replacing money with energy credits. Source.
All power to the engineers! I should be proclaiming this, following the example of the Bolsheviks, since I am an engineer. Yes, I am. But I abhor totalitarianism and have been fighting against it for over 40 years. That is why I am not a proponent of technocracy. Some will probably explain my motives for writing this blog as follows: envy that my colleagues will rule the world and not me. Far from it—I have no ambition to become yet another puppet of the powers that be, i.e., a politician.

And the Russian bots? Those are just words meant to stir up fear: “Russian,” because we’ve been programmed to fear everything that comes from Russia, and “bots” is linguistic metaphysics—a technical term deliberately introduced to make the message harder to understand. “Russian drones” serve a similar purpose. Fear. We’re supposed to fear empty words invented by those who advocate for a war against Russia.
