I’d like to begin by explaining what I mean by the term “lobby.” In short, it is legalized corruption. The extent of the influence that large pharmaceutical companies exert on how members of Congress vote in the U.S. is the best proof of this. In other words, the lobby is an effective tool for undermining the foundations of democracy. Another well-known lobby in the U.S. promotes bribery on behalf of the arms industry as well as pro-Israel policies through AIPAC.

The European counterpart to AIPAC is ELNET, which was founded in 2007 by former AIPAC employee Raanan Eliaz.

The powerful pro-Israel lobby pulling the EU’s strings.

The European Leadership Network, or ELNET, takes elected officials on networking trips to Israel, hosts events with members of European parliaments, and lobbies on foreign policy issues — much like the American Israel Public Affairs Committee operates in the U.S. Its co-founder, Raanan Eliaz, is a former AIPAC consultant and alumnus of the Israeli prime minister’s office. The group credits itself for key pro-Israel foreign policy decisions, including getting Germany to approve a $3.5 billion deal to purchase Israeli drones and rockets, the largest in Israel’s history. Since the October 7 attacks in Israel — and amid two years of genocide in Gaza — ELNET has broken fundraising records. Source.

Germany’s raison d’état in 2026: lavish parties with champagne, involving the Elnet lobbying network, which deals with Israeli affairs. Exuberant celebrations following the murder of over 20,000 children and at least 60,000 civilians, in the face of violence amounting to genocide, apartheid, war crimes, daily violence by settlers, widespread destruction, and forced displacement. “ELNET states clearly that their role is to legitimize and deepen economic ties with Israel, at a time when international law tells us we should be sanctioning Israel and sever trade ties,” said European Parliament member Lynn Boylan, an Irish representative from the Sinn Féin party. “As an EU lawmaker, I am very concerned that U.S. groups are seemingly successfully able to determine EU policy on Israel.” Source.

As Le Monde reports: According to polls conducted in August 2025, 80 percent of Germans support halting arms deliveries to Israel. In addition, 62 percent believe that Germany should exert greater political pressure on Israel.10 Nevertheless, European politicians, including representatives of the Greens and the Left Party, continue to participate in events organized by Elnet and travel through Israel with this organization.

The war with Iran has brought these lobbying trips to Israel to a standstill. However, this has not stopped the flow of money—the corruption of politicians. In many cases, money has enormous persuasive power and can suppress feelings such as compassion for the victims of genocide. Such is the morality of most politicians to whom we so willingly give our votes.
