The history of the Rothschild family sounds like the realization of the American dream. From shoe shiner to billionaire—that’s how the story of the beginnings of this family’s financial power can be summarized in a nutshell.

Mayer Amschel Rothschild (1744–1812), who lived in Judengasse in Frankfurt am Main, sent his five sons to the largest cities in Europe at that time, where they created the first international banking system. In 1789, when the last war lasted until 1815, in a very, very short period of time, it was said that no government and no king would consider going to war without the support of the Rothschilds, as they had become so incredibly influential and powerful. These words were spoken by Hannah Rothschild in an interview with CNBC.

You are probably wondering why anyone would want to concern themselves with a family of smug billionaires. The question is justified, and so is the answer: these people have had and continue to have a greater influence on the fate of Europe and the world than the emperors and governments of most countries, which have been intervening so effectively for over two centuries. Their influence has been evident in the following areas, among others:
- Financing governments;
- Inciting wars;
- Financing both sides of conflicts;
- Increasing capital through war loans and contributions;
- Silently controlling diplomacy.
Wars still require money. States still need loans. And those who have financial liquidity often decide which measures are “unavoidable.”

You can suck up to billionaires in the hope that a few dollars will fall from their wealth, or you can hate them because nothing falls. When it comes to money, there is no wickedness that overzealous dreamers of quick riches would not commit. Surely not all of them, but be honest, who among you has never wished you’d receive an offer to accept money for a favor?
The vast majority of us have never been in such a situation, so it’s hard for us to say how we would have behaved. From the movie Indecent Proposal: Could you lend me your wife? For a million dollars, for example? Many would probably agree for a smaller amount, but the price is not the issue here. The issue is how to live with that knowledge afterwards.
Wouldn’t it be a natural reaction to punch such an arrogant jerk in the face with money? A smart woman would appreciate such a reaction, and a stupid woman, well, is it worth fighting for someone like that? Money is just paper with printing on it that is considered valuable, but it isn’t.

Mr. Jakub Rothschild probably did not say these words, but they perfectly describe his family’s situation.
