The several-day break in writing this blog was due to my trip to the Hungarian capital. There, on Tuesday, I took a photo of a poster on a post with the parliament building in the background:

Let’s protest against the price increase!
National 🇭🇺 consultations.
Ten years ago, such a poster would hardly have attracted any attention. Even today, I have not noticed any interest in it in Budapest, but it is difficult to imagine that something like this would be possible in another EU country.
Although there were a few posters spreading opinions and facts that contradicted the prevailing trend in the media, these were financed by private sources, which severely limited their general distribution.

One can always find reasons to criticize Viktor Orbán. However, it would be extremely difficult to portray another politician as effectively fighting for his own nation’s interests.
