The name Palantir comes from the book Lord of the Rings by Tolkin. Palantirs are magical stones that were used to communicate and observe events in other parts of Middle-earth and even in the past. Palantir Technologies, founded in 2003, has developed the most efficient database and, more importantly, the software to analyze this data in detail about all digitally available information about all people. Just that and much more.

Imagine we have been invited to a presentation on the possibilities of the Palantir program. We are in a large room with hundreds of large monitors on the walls, and the presenter asks us to enter the name, date and place of birth of any person living in the “free” West. A few seconds after entering this information, the screens on the walls light up with thousands of pieces of information, photos and videos. All relating to that very person.

The purchase of the first computer in the 1980s, vacations, all transactions with plastic cards and bank transfers, a visit to a stadium during a game that was recorded by a surveillance camera. Practically all health data, previous operations and illnesses.

A screen shows a city map and the current location of the person’s cell phone. Recorded conversations made on that phone. In addition, all social media activity and – as a prime example – a detailed analysis of this person’s behavior, created with the help of artificial intelligence.

A scene straight out of another movie about an agent of His Majesty’s Secret Service with a license to kill. But this is not fiction – it is already possible today.

Companies associated with Thiel and his team are awarded multi-billion dollar government contracts. Palantir has become a major contractor for federal agencies in the areas of data processing and analysis, personal database integration and national security. Such contracts not only generate billions in profits, but also allow the private sector to control critically important elements of government infrastructure. Quote from the article in tkp.at in German: Globales Netzwerk für Überwachung von Palantir.

In this context, according to “conspiracy theorists”, the big exchange between Trump and Musk could prove to be a set-up to distract us from more important issues, such as the extension of the US government’s contract with Palantir. How it really is, I don’t know, I think everyone has their own theory.

We can read a lot of details in the mainstream New York Times article: Trump Taps Palantir to Collect Data on Americans.

The Trump administration has expanded Palantir’s work across the federal government in recent months. The company has received more than $113 million in federal government spending since Mr. Trump took office, according to public records, including additional funds from existing contracts as well as new contracts with the Department of Homeland Security and the Pentagon. (This does not include a $795 million contract that the Department of Defense awarded the company last week, which has not been spent.)

Big Brother has eyes and ears everywhere, but he can only guess your thoughts with a very artificial intelligence, as he lacks natural intelligence.
