Today’s article is the first part of a two-part series on interviews conducted by Judge Andrew Napolitano with renowned professor, former UN Special Representative, author, and political scientist Jeffrey Sachs. The interview published on Tuesday on unser-mitteleuropa is entitled: Jeffrey Sachs: What did Trump do differently than Franklin Roosevelt, like Theodore Roosevelt? Source.
… we are witnessing a kind of paranoia, coupled with acts of desperation, among those in power in the United States, the United Kingdom, and the European Union. This is happening in slightly different ways in different places, but restrictions on freedom of expression and very basic political speech are being implemented in an absolutely dramatic manner!

Franklin Delano Roosevelt, whom we Poles consider a traitor for his contribution to the destruction of the Third Reich, was simply the president of the United States, not of Poland. He was aware of the political realities of the time and acted within the constraints of those circumstances. This has nothing to do with the romantic notion typical of us Poles of fighting for your freedom and ours. He simply had to take into account the power of the USSR, whose contribution to the victory over Nazi Germany was by far the greatest. I know that most of my compatriots disagree with this, but that is precisely the tragedy of the Polish view of geopolitics. Poland is an important part of world politics, but not the only one.
Well, I have already made myself unpopular enough with the “true patriots” of Poland. I simply have a broader view of the realities of world politics than the average Polish patriot. I am a staunch supporter of the AfD’s policy of putting Germany’s interests above those of Europe. I am also in favor of good relations with Russia, contrary to the dogmas of the Kolkhoz Union. Not because I support the Kremlin’s policies 100%. There, as in every country, there are many ruthless supporters of the Russian Empire.
I am a supporter of charismatic politicians such as Viktor Orban. I don’t know whether he will survive the elections in Hungary in April. However, I do know that he enjoys considerable support among Hungarian patriots. My opinion is based on conversations with Hungarian friends. However, we must not underestimate our opponents.
Yes, I place the issue of European politics at the forefront, just like Polish patriots. Are you aware that China refers to Europe as the Western bridgehead of Eurasia? EU policy has put us in this position. I would not blame China for this attitude, even though I do not approve of the tyrannical attitude of the authorities of the Republic of China towards their own people. I am an advocate of freedom, and the Chinese government is not a supporter of it. I strongly support China’s stance of recognizing the right of other nations to self-determination. Despite its expansionist economic policy, China, unlike the US, has no claims on African countries, for example, if they prefer a different ideology to that of the Middle Kingdom. Putting pragmatism above ideology is definitely the better approach.

and are just waiting for Trump, Putin, the AfD, God, or someone else to save them.
Only we, who make up the vast majority, have the power to resist evil. It does us no good to wait for the AfD to give us back our independence. Ms. Weidel alone will not give it back to us while we sit in front of the TV munching on chips. Verbal support, or better still, participation in this political revolution, is the most effective form of resistance against the injustices that have befallen us.

It takes time, research, and initiative.
