Today, I will not write about the tragic war in Ukraine. It is not a war of one people, not even the Ukrainian people. It is a war between two empires that has been going on for almost twelve years. The main burden is borne by the inhabitants of Ukraine.
This title comes from an article published on Wednesday by Venezuelan journalist Andreína Chávez, who clearly holds communist views. My nearly 30 years of personal experience with the planned economy of the People’s Republic of Poland leads me to rebel strongly when I read praise for this method of wasting human labor.
I chose this article for another reason. It describes the situation in Venezuela, a South American country. In short, I would describe this conflict as follows: a thief (the US) outraged by the owner (Venezuela) taking back his property, uses all available means, mainly military, to regain his loot. This is what the article is about: “War of the entire people”: Venezuela’s Grassroots Rise to Resist Trump’s Naval Blockade.
This latest escalation comes as thousands of U.S. troops, warships, and combat aircraft have been deployed in the Caribbean since mid-August, just a few miles off Venezuela’s coasts. The U.S. blockade, based on claims made without credible sources or evidence, was deployed under a purported counter-narcotics mission against Nicolás Maduro’s government.

From a military perspective, a US war against Venezuela has no chance of success. The country is too large for the US armed forces to completely occupy. They tried this in Korea, Vietnam, and Afghanistan—and failed every time. Venezuela’s area is roughly equivalent to that of Afghanistan and Vietnam combined.
In my opinion, the attacks on Nigeria and Venezuela are intended to distract attention from the disastrous US financial policy, the Epstein affair, the scandal surrounding the murders of victims of the US fishing boat attack, AIPAC’s interference in US domestic and foreign policy, and US support for Israeli genocide.

Not much has changed since Trump announced his “new” political doctrine—the national security strategy. As always, all political goals are subordinate to the current needs of the White House. The list of negative “achievements” by the US president in the fight against the Deep State is long. On the other hand, no one can convince me that it would have been better if Ms. Harris (i.e., Obama) had taken power almost a year ago.

Despite Trump’s promises, no one has confirmed Mossad’s involvement in the assassination of the US president more than 60 years ago. That is no reason to lump all Israeli citizens and all Jews worldwide together. At least the 30% of Israelis who oppose the genocide in Gaza deserve to be treated differently. We should not fight potential allies.
Similarly, the claim in the article quoted above that Venezuela’s war against the US can be described as a “war of the entire people” is false. It suffices to name a single person from Venezuela who does not identify with this claim: last year’s (2025) Nobel Peace Prize winner from Venezuela, María Corina Machado.
